IN KEEPING WITH MYSELF
NETWORKS OF SELF-REFLEXIVITY
“Self-reflective network” is a term that’s sometimes used in conversations about artificial intelligence. It refers specifically to the possibility of teaching computers to review their own systems and to improve themselves.
In this exhibition, we can build our own networks of self-reflexivity by comparing different works and looking for similarities in themes.
For example, look at the way that artists Laura Hudspith, Suzy Lake and Sage Szkabarnicki-Stuart explore the aging process, and their different viewpoints. Alternatively, look at how Laura Hudspith, Olivia Johnston and Laurence Philomène explore transitions and the ways our bodies can fail us.
There is no right or wrong way to approach the artworks, build your network, make connections or start your own path towards healing. You may discover that your network of self-reflexivity will shift as you identify more visual clues and reinterpret the works in relation to your own lived experiences.
