PGC Welcomes Malea Richardson to the Board of Directors

OTTAWA, ON, December 8, 2023 - The Board of Directors of the Portrait Gallery of Canada (PGC) is pleased to welcome Malea Richardson, of Calgary, Chief of Staff at Agi3, as a new member of the Board. Malea was appointed at today’s meeting of the Board to fill an existing vacancy.

“Malea brings an extraordinary passion for our cause along with impeccable education and experience,” said Robert Steven, Executive Director. “The Board was impressed by her energy, enthusiasm, and confidence in the future of the PGC.”

“I am honoured to serve the important mission of the National Portrait Gallery,” said incoming Director Malea. “I look forward to working with the PGC Board, leadership, and communities across Canada, to amplify the stories of Canadians from all walks of life through portraiture.” Richardson is a portrait artist herself and developed the concept of “storybanking” through her community-based art projects. “I believe in the power of the arts to foster understanding and bring people together.”

Malea Richardson is Chief of Staff at Agi3, an agriculture technology company using AI-driven models to support farmers in decision making and risk management. With an Iowa farming background and 10 years’ experience leading innovation across public and private sectors, Malea is passionate about the future of agriculture. Prior to joining Agi3, Malea worked at Ford Motor Company’s think tank in London, UK and Stanford University’s Digital Medic in Palo Alto, California. Malea holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame.
